Learning Disabilities
Presents a significant reduced ability to understand new, simple, or complex information, to learn news skills or cope with daily life independently.
Dementia:
People with Learning Disabilities are more likely to develop dementia at a young age. Dementia impairs people’s ability to remember, think, or make decisions and will present difficulties with dealing with everyday activities.
Down’s Syndrome:
is a genetic disorder which usually comes with some form of Learning Disabilities.
Mental Health:
Many people with Learning Disabilities or Autism can also have a mental health issue or Behaviours that Challenges including Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, Bipolar Disorder, and other related conditions.
Behaviour that Challenges:
People with Learning Disabilities, Autism or any associated disorder might display Behaviour that Challenges. It is often caused by their inability to communicate their needs, wants and feelings. This behaviour can often pose a risk to the person’s safety and wellbeing and to those around them.
Learning Disabilities can be moderate or severe. It will affect individuals in different ways. At Bensham Resource Centre, each User will have a PCP (Person Centred Plan).
